Hello, I am the teacher in Cook Class- Foundation Stage.
I believe that every child deserves a caring and engaging atmosphere in which they are encouraged and enabled to thrive. I am currently in third year here at Croft Church of England Primary.
I have previously taught in KS1 and KS2.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, travelling and exploring new places. I love spending time with my friends and family.
About Our Class
Hello and welcome to Cook Class! We are the Foundation Stage Class within our school. Our staff team consists of Miss Miller and Mrs Denton.
In Foundation Stage, we encourage and teach the children to learn to write in pre-cursive writing. In pre-cursive handwriting, children practise adding lead-ins and lead-outs to letters, which then ensures the letters start and finish in the correct place for writing to be joined. The children have daily phonics sessions as a whole class following the Read Write Inc scheme and interventions where appropriate. We base our Maths around Power Maths scheme and ensure to use lots of concrete hands on activities to secure the children’s understanding.
In Cook Class, we learn as much as possible through hands on experiences as this is the foundations to Early Years.
We have an indoor area, including our ‘Doodle Zone’ for mark making and Maths area and outdoor area- including a mud kitchen, outdoor mark marking and lots of games and toys such as bikes and loose parts play.
We believe that the firm foundations our children create in Cook Class help to build a love a learning, school and friendships that grow throughout their time here at Croft and beyond.
